Cambodia Casinos

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where casino betting is illegal. Eight casinos are established in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of most borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, contains 150 slots and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel complex that features numerous conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight tables.
